Rubella is a viral infection generally characterized by a rash. Respiratory aerosols are a major source through which virus is transmitted from person to person.

The first clinical manifestation of rubella is usually the appearance of a macro-papular rash some 16-20 days after exposure. The rash, appearing first on the face, spreads further over the trunk and the extremities.

The presence of RUBELLA - IgM antibodies in blood indicates recent or current infection with the Rubella virus. In rare cases, IgM antibodies are known to persist for years following a previous infection and also immunization.
